Drips Bakery Cafe @ Tiong Bahru

If you are tarts lover, or you are looking for some places to have high tea with your friends or families, there is one place which you should not be missed! I highly recommend you to visit to Drips Bakery Cafe which is located inside the old charm of Tiong Bahru District.

Although the premises quite limited of seating capacity but Drips Bakery Cafe offers the best and freshly baked tarts in their kitchen! They have many variety of tarts for you to choose from and also suite your mood to enjoy the delicious and tasty tarts.

If you intend to visit to Drip Bakery Cafe on weekends, please be prepare that the cafe will be full house and it will take you awhile before you could find your seat. And sometime their tarts are so popular that it will run out of tarts! But, they will replenish the tarts after freshly baked.

Irene, Linda and I Ordered Dark Chocolate Banana Tart, Cherry Brandy Tart and Cinnamon Apple Tart. 

Three of us agreed and all of us feel that Cherry Brandy Tart tasted better compared to Dark Chocolate Banana Tart and Cinnamon Apple Tart.  

1) For Dark Chocolate Banana Tart, they added a lot of dark chocolate powder and it will be kinda messy as it spilt on the dining table. You can tasted more on Dark Chocolate Powder and it makes the banana not so sweet.

2) For Cinnamon Apple Tart, The tart rather soft and looked like Trifle cake to us. It will be great if the Cinnamon taste could be stronger and the apple slices are fresh!

3) For Cherry Brandy Tart, The tart are crispy with the taste of the cherry brandy. It make you feel so excited and you wanted to ask for more! 

We also ordered Ice Apple Infused Tea, Ice Honey lemon and Ice Peppermint Tea. Those tarts makes the drink feel so refreshing!

The Dispensary Bakery @ Tiong Bahru

When you heard of Tiong Bahru, what will be your first thought and the impression of Tiong Bahru? Your first impression might tell you that Tiong Bahru are quiet and old neighbourhood estate. Or you might think that Tiong Bahru is only famous for their Tiong Bahru Market. You are half right.

Do you know that Tiong Bahru are the oldest housing estate that was built by the then United Kingdom colonial. You can find many architecture with the mix of streamline moderne shop houses and buildings around Tiong Bahru. It left behind the charm and rich heritage of Tiong Bahru.

Many investors came over to Tiong Bahru to setup their business due to the charm, chic housing architecture of Tiong Bahru. Furthermore Tiong Bahru are now known as Heritage and conservation area.

Many old shop houses and housing estate are converted into modernise theme cafes or boutique hotels which added to it charm in Tiong Bahru.

At Blk 69 Tiong Bahru Road, it was once a glory Chinese Medical Hall which served the residents before it was abandoned for few years (I used to work around Tiong Bahru around year 2006) before The Dispensary Bakery took over and changed the fate of the Chinese Medical Hall.

The Dispensary Bakery is located at the heritage area of Tiong Bahru. It located opposite LINK Hotel and beside Nostalgia Hotel.

Why they named Dispensary Bakery? As it was once a Chinese Medical Hall, they tried to preserve the old appearance of the old Chinese Medical Hall with the western/modernise concept to their Bakery store.

When you first step into Dispensary Bakery, you might be mistaken that you are entering medical hall. They displayed many nostalgic items which brings back the childhood memories.

Dispensary Bakery displayed their products and displays very neatly and tidy, You also can see that they tried their best to restore every bit of the premise to it original status as much as possible.

You can find many retro decoration displays like the poster, wall clock and many more. They also provided outdoor seat for those who prefer to breath fresh air or those who do not like air conditional.

You should try their signature cake and please visit early to avoid disappointment as their cakes are selling fast!

Tiong Bahru Bakery by Gontran Cherrier

Gontran Cherrier is famous artisan boulanger from Paris. He recently opened Bakery store in Tiong Bahru, Singapore.

Tiong Bahru is an old charming estate, which welcome its guests not only locally but globally as well!

You would never thought of unique stores would set up their businesses in tranquil heartland of Tiong Bahru instead of shopping districts like Marina Bay Sands or Orchard.

At Block 56 Eng Hoon Street (Near to Tiong Bahru Market), you can spot Tiong Bahru Bakery easily as the logo is quite big with Chinese character 中峇鲁 (Tiong Bahru) on the wall.

When you pushed through the swivel door, you can smell the freshly baked bread! Not only that, the friendly staffs will smile and welcome you! During the off peak hours, you can be able to choose the seats of your choice else, the friendly staff will allocated for you.

There are various tasty and yummy breads and cake for you to choose from the counter. Guess what? Their ingredients are shipped from France to ensure that you can taste it as you are in France! Not sure what to eat? Freak not, you can ask the friendly staff for recommendation.

I loves their original croissant! It is crispy, crushing and yummy! If you are chocolate lover, you can choose Chocolate croissant. If you have sweet tooth, perhaps you can consider Brioche (Sugar). I find it too sweet.

If you need butter or jam for your bread, you can help yourself at the counter. Please take if you really need it!

For drink wise, you can order Chocolate, Coffee or Tea. The Drink basically cost you from the range of S$6.00 to S$8.00.

If you prefer ice water, you can help yourself by pouring a glass of ice water at the counter or you can take one big bottle of ice water and put at your dining table if you are sharing with your love one.

Even their toilet are special too! They designed as if we are in the 70's and it's well decorate and retro feel!













If you are in a hurry, you can take away as well! Please prepare your own bag as they only provided you take away brown paper bags without handle due to Eco-friendly concept. I know its pretty inconvenient. Or you can choose to buy their canvas bag at S$10.
