Celebrate your Christmas at Gardens by the Bay, Singapore

Gardens by the Bay Present: Tulipmania Floral Display

Are you planning for families outing over the weekends or are you thinking of somewhere special where you thought you are in Netherlands? If the answer is YES, I recommend you to visit to Gardens by the Bay, Singapore!

Gardens by the Bay Present to you 'Tulipmania Floral Display' which is held at Flower Dome from 29th April to 20 May 2013.

They especially imported 20,000 tulip from Netherlands where you can get to see blossom tulips and vibrant of spring colors like Red, Pink, Purple, White and yellow.

They also features Dutch windmills and extremely large size of customised wooden clogs! You are allowed to take photos of the customised wooden clogs near to the Flower Dome entrance.

You will be trilled to see so many vibrant colors of tulips around the Flower Dome. Do you even know that Tulip is the 2nd most popular flowers in the world?

In general, the Tulip means true, passionate and a perfect lover. It means that they are passion, fame and  romance. Tulip also associated with spring especially when tulip blooming with vibrant of colors.

Each of the Tulip color have their own meaning and symbolism.

Red Tulip mean true love.
Yellow Tulip which earlier suggested as hopeless love but in Today context, they changes to cheerful thoughts and sunshine.
Orange Tulip mean Happiness, Fascination and Warmth.
White Tulip mean ask for forgiveness.
Pink Tulip means confidence and happiness.
Purple Tulip means royalty.
In the center of the Tulip that is velvet in texture and almost black in color, it represent the heart of a lover that is fired with passion.
Blotched and striped flowers represent beautiful eyes.

Celebrate Lunar New Year with Gardens by the Bay

As we usher the year of the Snake, from now till 28th February 2013, Gardens By the Bay line up exciting Spring Celebrations 2013 inside their Flower Dome just for you!

You can expected to see the themed 'Spring Celebrations' with over 8,000 colourful blooms in the Flower Dome Cooled Conservatory. You will be able to see 8 featured flowers which are:  Penjing, Torch Bromeliad, Cherry Blossom, Chrysanthemums, Coralberry, Camellia, Peonies and Cymbidium Orchids.

When you are inside the Flower Dome, do head down to the spectacular blooms of Penjing which is up to 200 years old! This is one the featured flowers which you must not be missed!

Since this year will be the year of the snake in Chinese zodiac. Gardens By the Bay will displayed snake decorate inside their Flower Dome. You can able to find Chinese Lantern, Chinese Hut and different varieties of Kumquat (Citrus) plants. You also can smell the flowers too!

We should not forgetting the Lion Dance during the Chinese New Year. You can able to see the Lion head display.

I am quite disappointed that I saw Foreigners plucking the flowers and also plucking the Kumquat to eat inside the Flower Dome. Please refrain from plucking the flowers and Kumquat as the plants have life too. Due to our selfish act, we are actually destroy our environment.

After visited to the Flower Dome, you can visit to the Cloud Forest where you can walk through the World's Tallest indoor waterfall to see the plant life from tropical highland to 2000 metres above sea level. If you look up, you can see the bridge that look like M sharp or heart sharp.

You can experience yourself how the life of the plant in the highland and if you visit the Cloud Forest during the night time, you can see the beautiful landscape of Singapore inside the cooled conservatory.

Next, you can visit to the OCBC Skyway (Supertree Grove), If you are not afraid of height, you can go up and see the beautiful landscape of Marina Bay district and the surrounding view of Gardens by the Bay.

If you want something special, you can dine in or chill at IndoChine where you can experience spectacular scenery view in the 50- metre tall on top of the super tree!

You also can visit to Supertree Dining where you can taste from the mixture of Eastern and Western Food. Or if you would prefer, you can eat at the TEXAS Chicken as this is the only fast food chain in Marina Bay area.

If you want to taste the local cuisine, you can visit to the Satay by the Bay. You can able to try the local food like Satay (Malay food: Chicken in the stick which they use charcoal to BBQ it), Chicken Rice, BBQ Seafood and many more. There are selection of Halal- Certified food stalls around, so do not worry about the food choices.

There are many varieties of food chains around the Gardens By the Bay for you to choose. If you could not find any food which suite you.

I recommend you to sign up for their annual membership card at SGD$68 where you can visit the two cooled conservatories and OCBC Skyway unlimited time.

When you apply the annual membership, you can use this membership to get a discount or promotion rate at selected food chain in Gardens by the Bay.

Gardens By the Bay

Gardens by the Bay is the newest attraction in Singapore. It is located near to Marina Bay Sands. Since it opening, it it has already attracted many visitors, both local and overseas celebrities and had also held three mega concert at Gardens by the Bay!

At Gardens by the Bay, you will be expected seven (7) attractions which is OCBC Supertree Grove, Flower Dome, Dragonfly & Kingfisher Lakes, Bay East Garden, Cloud Forest, Heritage Gardens and World of Plants.

Verandah Contemporary Asian Bistro

Verandah Contemporary Asia Bistro is located at Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. Their bistro is based on the Black & White Bungalows and their interior designs are in Retro theme.

When you step inside the bistro, the staff will greet you and will bring you to your seat. After that, the staff will inform you to order your food at the counter. When you look at their menu, most of the food are based on the local Asian dishes like Mee Siam, Wok- fried Seafood noddles and they also served Western food as well!

My aunt ordered Tempura Fish & Chip (SGD$20) and while I ordered Asian Pork Chop (SGD$24). We also ordered Fresh Fruit Juices (SGD$7) as well. After that, the counter staff will pass you the number tag. While we are waiting for our food to be served. I observed the bistro and the staffs.

 I loved this bistro ambience. I guess the owner of this bistro should had spent the effort to decorate it. Their floor tile are in the 70's kind, their wall decorated with old photos, old lamp, fans and even the clock. It look retro but very modernize and cosy too.

The staff basically extremely friendly. They served the customer with a smile, but they intend to get together and chit chat without noticing the diners. I saw elderly diner wanted to push the doors. She struggled quite awhile before the staff noticed it and helped her to open! It will be good if the staff can pay more attention while they chit chatting.

Asian Pork Chop

Tempura Fish & Chip

About 15 minutes later, our food are being served. The way they presented the food look very neat, tasty and yummy. My aunt let me tried her Tempura Fish & Chip. When I tried, the Fish & Chip was very juicy and crispy!

I tried my Pork Chop. The meat was hard! Not well cooked (can see the reddish) and look thick! Not very tendered through. It was like I am having a rock for my dinner! I had a hard time to chew the meat.

If you asked me to choose, I would rather choose my aunt Tempura Fish & Chip!

After our food, we had our Fruit Juice! It was a rather big glass of Fruit Juice and it was freshly made! You can add two fruits and it was quite reasonable.

Overall: Verandah Contemporary Asian Bistro is ideal for those who have families and those wanted to find a gathering place to chill out. Not recommend for couple who want a quiet and romantic place to dine in as it can be quite noisy when there is kids around and also during the peak hours.

Price Range: Starting SGD$6 to SGD$30.
